The Countdown Begins : The story of Kickstarting IAC

Goliath being the timeframe for in which we must accomplish the impossible.

And when I mean Mantoid, I actually mean Jessie and I. There is no giant here except the mountain of chaos we must sift through. After Comicpalooza, we saw, we did, we kind of succeeded? I’m not sure success is the right term, maybe, survived.

You know that moment in Jurassic Park when the two archeologist see the Brachiosaurus in the field and they stood at awe. Well, we hoped for something like that at the con, I did at least. I know that most people feel that way with their projects and in truthful reality, the stuff is mediocre at best. I think IAC is a bit above average and even more entertaining than most shows on Cartoon Network. That’s a bit of the issue huh, Jessie and I have all this lore and story for it, but can’t find an inch of time to write it all out for people to share in. When we did the con and no more than 5-6 people played with us the entire weekend, our energy and encouragement level got it’s check.

Rolling dice for abilities

We knew it was a lot of good info and experience, especially pitching a game. What would we do to survive? We have our family to care for, sanity to keep hold of and this dream that is lifting off each day, but requires infinite endurance. Then social media, the devil in his most wicked form. Deceptive with likes and follows, but the amount of work involved is mind numbing. Hey, we love it though, because we are learning the stuff we always questioned why it cost so much to do. Now we know why.

So we have been running giveaways and fun contest to get these cards into peoples hands, especially reviewers. We need people to see this game and the best way are for us to share communities. Sucks, because we can’t afford to pay any reviewers, but we are asking what they would like in compensation. Maybe we can send them a nice rare card once we are up and running. The giveaways gave Jessie the great idea to go subscription based. After a bit of a talk, about 15 minutes, we decided that would be awesome. People could get a new deck each month at 15.00 and or higher tiers for more gameplay and support. This would help us get more cards made and help start paying us after months of non-stop work.

We both jumped into preparing mode for October when we launch this bad boy. I started on getting the packages prepped for reviewers and getting the hologram cards for the winners of the 4th of July giveaway. Then the great realization happened, we can’t be sending these cards out as our final product. So we wanted to get these into peoples hands who want the early beta decks, the Patreon works out perfectly. The whole ordeal to get these packaged and mailed out took a few days do to post office stuff. But they are out and sailing the tall cloudy seas of USPS.

Whats next? We ordered a couple decks that had a different finish on them from the same manufacturers, and they looked and felt much better. We decided to go with boardgamemaker.com as our printers until we can find a reliable and cheap alternative. The holos come in within a few weeks. I hope they look good. I’d like to send them protective sleeves and be a valuable card for winners. As Jessie and I are still cleaning up the games design and gameplay, we are so stoked on having people play this game. Now for designing the Kickstarters look and tier list. After that, contact all the supporters we can so we can have a successful launch.

Here is what we've been posting on our Youtube. Mainly, battles between two fun cards and rolling the dice. They are about 2 minutes long and simply fun. But, then again, maybe not the most entertaining thing when the lore isn't out there. We are working on that. In the mean time, check out our Youtube at

Like and Subscribe if you wouldn't mind, unless you hate it that much.

YAY!

One amazing thing is we have our first Patreon supporter and hopefully people will love the monthly cards and cool collectables.

We give you a full card game and rare ones at that. So if you haven't already, this is something you may want to invest in. We are trying our best to give you a solid and fun retro product that keeps you interested.

Thank you Patreon supporter #1. What an encouragement!

So that wraps up the post. I think I will go over in another post the card issues we had and why we are upgrading and moving to a new manufacturer.

Thank you all for supporting us and hope that you join us over on Discord https://discord.gg/3dsudyCUNS to chat with us. Have super rad week and look for our next post soon on both Instagram @iamchampiontcg and Twitter at the same.

See ya'll later,
